Deciding to work with Matt has to be one of the best decision’s I ever made in my life. Since July last year, I asked Matt to develop my voice as an artist, and my music as a writer. He went way beyond and I can’t help but feel his extra touch of personal development has helped me grow further as a result.
I started working with Matt when I was 14, when I had very minimal self confidence as a musician. I knew I had a talent but didn’t really know what I could do with it. My first meeting with Matt was enticing and he showed a real interest in not only my music potential but also in me as a person. I believe having a coach like this is a huge factor in my recent path to success.
During my journey on The Voice Kids, it was Matt who was the best asset throughout my entire time on the show.
I had entered the show just before I started work with Matt, but instantly he wanted to help and I genuinely don’t believe I would have got as far in the competition without his guidance. He was not only a coaching me on my performance and singing, but he was there to mentor me through the personal challenges. The process was very stressful and tiring at times, but Matt never failed to support me. Even when my journey on The Voice Kids came to an end, Matt wanted to keep working and thought I was capable of so much more.
Writing and producing my EP has to be one of the best times I have had in my music life.
It made me realise what I really want to do in my life, and Matt really helped me see that decision. At my age you have lots of questions like, “what do you want to do when you’re older” and “it’s time to think about your future”…
Working with Matt on those songs made me realise my potential in the music industry, and yes I am young – but Matt saw my potential as an advantage with his fresh perceptive of the new music industry.
Before, I started my journey with Matt I was a self-conscious 14 year old, who didn’t think she was that special and was debating on giving up music (especially considering the amount of fails I’d had). But now I am proud of my failures and have learnt that those knock backs are the key to success, I have learnt to make my image mine and no one else’s, I have learnt that if you have a talent don’t give up, and that it’s ok to ask for help sometimes. And I was lucky enough to have Matt to teach me all of this. I am so excited about the coming years and will always work with Matt again on any future projects.
